Since Franco's is close to our condo we decided to give it a try for dinner. It wasn't the best meal we had in Orange Beach but it wasn't the worst either. The salad (that is included with every entree), I have to say, was tasty. I could have eaten that alone and been okay with it. Our entrees (spaghetti and a shrimp pasta dish) were okay but reminded me a bit of Olive Garden. This was in no way authentic and inventive Italian food. Our waitress was slammed and service suffered as a result. We had to flag her down for drink refills (and we were ordering bill inflating mixed drinks, not water!) and as a former waitress that just annoys me a bit. The atmosphere made me picture Pizza Hut and Olive Garden having a love child. But that salad was pretty darn good.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Every time we get to the gulf, we make sure we experience Francos. The salad is AMAZING and the food cannot be touched. Dont get too full thought, because their desserts are right there with the rest of the menu! May I suggest the seafood lasagna and the cheesecake! Great food and atmosphere!!!

Got pizza n salad to go last night. Learned to not order thin crust. It was like a soda cracker - awful. Cheese was good though. A big disappoint to us. Salad dressing was good but lettuce was a little brown on edges.

Filet was fantastic. Nice staff. House dressing on salad was really good without being overpowering. It's not cheap to eat here but worth the $. Enjoyed Franco's very much.

The service was excellent. Wine selection was solid and the steak I had was one of the best cuts of meats I have ever had. Only drawback, someone with us ordered the Veal. It was so tough they didn't touch it. Waitress said they had had that complaint before. If that's true fix it or take it off the menu.

Overall the food was pretty decent. My wife liked her eggplant parmigiana. I was very upset to find out the price of 4 shrimp was $5.99. I asked the waiter if the shrimp Alfredo typically had that few shrimp. He replied that since they went to larger size shrimp, they have lessened the amount. The flavor of the fettuccine Alfredo was good though. I would not eat there again. It's definitely not worth the price.

Don't bother! For the money not worth it. Bland, boring, and my chicken parm was burned. Side salad was wilted and saturated with dressing. Fazoli's fast food is better.

The service was good...that's about all I can say was good. The garlic? knots were a bit underbaked (squishy in the middle). The salad was drowned in cheese, the dressing flavorless. The shrimp parmesan is to be avoided at all cost -- the shrimp was really tough from being so overcooked and absolutely drowned in sauce and cheese, also difficult to eat for all of the cheese. The pasta was also overcooked, kind of gluey. Skip it and go anywhere else.

Pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the staff was very responsive. Alfredo sauce was so good I wanted to lick the dish. We will be back when we are in town again,

We had been here 2 years back and loved it. This time not so much. The staff sat us on the patio and then we sat for about 10 minutes before being served. The food was bland and the plates were crazy hot so clearly they were sitting under lamps. Pretty bummed too, last time it we phenomenal. I wouldn't return.

very good food. I'd definitely recommend the salad and bread that comes with most pasta dishes. the only thing is that there was a little longer wait than I hoped, but it was worth it.

This place is great. Nice and quick service. Salad, yes salad, was great. Stuffed mushrooms were just average. Seafood lasagna was delicious. Cheese manicotti was good. The Milky Way cake was like sex in your mouth (wife's words).

Nice little restaurant. Salad was excellent; a bit reminiscent of Olive Garden. The kids and I split a pizza while my wife got the lasagna. The pizza was great. Thin crust was cooked just right, toppings were great. Lasagna was definitely fresh cooked. Tasted great and portions were plentiful. I'd definitely stop by here again if in Orange Beach.

We went to Francos with a large group. No reservations, but we were told it would only be a half an hour wait. A few minutes later we were told they were cleaning tables and it would only be a minute. This back and forth, of just another minute, went on and on for over an hour before we were finally seated. Wouldn't have minded that long of a wait with a large group, I just would have preferred that they were more transparent about it. Once we finally ate, the food was good. Not the best Italian you have ever had, but definitely good. The chicken parm had a nice crunch to it and the lasagna had a good amount of meat. The mushrooms in the Alfredo sauce were different and didn't work for me. Wine list was good and reasonably priced. If you are in the area and looking for a break from seafood, this is a good option.

Nice place for the older crowd. Prices were a bit high and the food looked grate, but was very bland. Pizza tasted like hunts pizza kit. Everything tasted like it was from a can and frozen, then cooked and refrozen, then reheated and served. I will say the place is very clean has a nice atmosphere for dining out.

Very good. The veal piccata tasted great. Kids pizza was good as well. Servings are HUGE!! We will be back.

The salad was good but the Service was bad . I paid 17.99 for a Francos sampler and it was so small my 110 lb wife could have ate it and been hungry for more . We will not go back

Best authentic Italian I've ever tried! You'll never darken the door of an Olive Garden again! Try one of the samplers to taste several dishes at once but be prepared to take some home for later. Better yet; share one! Prices were very reasonable & the atmosphere is cozy & comfortable with plenty of room. Highly recommend.

Atmosphere relaxed. Ate at the bar and the bartender was friendly and helpful with great service. As others have said, the salad is excellent and similar to Olive Garden but with feta and fresh mozzarella. We had the chef special ravioli and the Michelangelo platter. Everything was good. The seafood lasagna (a house specialty) was tasty with lots of cheese and Alfredo sauce but no seafood was actually identifiable. The beef ravioli is housemade and good. The house tomato sauce is thick and hearty with a good fresh taste. Prices okay for a tourist venue. Will definitely go back.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
